Flour Made From Bug? Coming To A Store Near You??

Flour Made From Bugs? Yep It's Real!

New flour made from ground up and dried insects is 1 group of researchers plan to help end world hunger.

Mohammad Ashour and his team of MBA students have created a rather unusual way to help end world hunger and malnutrition.  They have created a process to make baking flour out of insects.

The first test subject, Grasshoppers.

The team intends on farming grasshoppers on a large scale in the near future in Mexico, where nearly four million people suffer from malnutrition.

Grasshoppers would produce a high protein flour that would be relatively easy to produce, especially in areas where farming wheat may not be easily achieved.

Grasshoppers may not be on most American dinner plates, but in other countries such as Mexico, it's very commonplace to see street vendors selling that at a high price.  These vendors have to physically go find them and trap them.  Farmed grasshoppers would be much cheaper.

Other parts of the world have the potential to produce other various types of insect flours.  Insects being studied for this purpose include Palm Weevils, various Caterpillars, and various family members of the grasshopper such as Locusts.

If you look beyond the fact the you'd be eating flour made from insects, the flours made by this process would create a high protein food source for a population that desperately needs it.

Inset derived flours would also be a great substitute for people with wheat gluten allergies.

The Tale of The Amazing Two-Headed Afghan Baby

The Tale of The Amazing Two-Headed Afghan Baby

As it turns out, two heads aren't better than one.

An Afghan baby born with two heads, underwent surgery to remove the extra one.

Young Asree Gul was born in Afghanistan a few months ago.  When she was born, she came out with something extra, a second head on the back of her functioning head.

Asree was born to a family of farmers in the Chaparhar District of Afghanistan.  She also has a twin sister, who was born without complication.

The operation war performed by Cheif Surgeon Ahmed Obain Mojadidi.  He stated "The surgery performed on young Asree was the first of its kind ever performed in this region"

Asree's father, Nematullah did not expect his daughter to survive the surgery.  "The doctors saved her life" he told the AFP

Doctors believe the extra head was the result on an undeveloped third baby sibling, a rare condition called Craniopagus Parasiticus.

The most famous of this rare disease happened in 2005 when a ten-month-old baby underwent surgery for the same disease.  The surgery in that case was considered a success, however, unfortunately she died of a brain infection about a year later.

In the case of young Asree, who's name translates to "new flower", so far the surgery seems successful.  She is recovering at home.  We certainly with her the best and a speedy recovery.

Walt Disney, George Gershwin Producing New Material, From Beyond The Grave

Walt Disney, George Gershwin Producing New Material, From Beyond The Grave

Walt Disney, George Gershwin, and even Judy Garland are all still producing new material years after death.

The story begins with 1 person, a lady named Jennifer Whisper, now age 83 from San Diego, California has a very special gift.  She gets messages from the dead.  Not just any dead, She gets messages from dead celebrities.

Whisper has claimed to receive new songs from George Gershwin and Walt Disney as well as messages from Judy Garland and Johnny Mercer.

Jennifer Whisper began her career as a publicist for dead songwriters back in the 1970s.  She noticed she had a special gift of being able to communicate with the deceased.  She began ghost writing for deceased musicians that would talk to her and relay they're works.  One night, she claims George Gershwin himself contacted her.  She has has over 100 visits since then by various big time deceased stars.

Walt Disney visited her one night with a story and a drawing of "Buddha Mouse" who is the Great Uncle of Mickey Mouse.  Another claim made by Whisper is that Marilyn Monroe adopted Jon Benet Ramsey after her grisly murder.

Attorneys for Whisper has stated that she is treading very dangerous waters with her stories.  She does claim that these are new works by celebrities, and there is a worry that the families of the deceased may come after her for royalties.  She is making money off of the new songs and stories, even though it cannot be proven whether she is being truthful to their origins or not.

Speaking personally, I wonder what Kurt Cobain may have to say, but, I really hope I don't find out.

Next Time You Swim in a New Jersey River, Wear Kevlar Underpants!!

Next time you swim in a New Jersey River, Wear Kevlar Underpants!!

The Amazon native fish, Pacu, which sometimes mistakes human genitals for their favorite snack food of tree nuts, has been found swimming in the Passaic Park, 15 miles from New York City.

-New York Daily News

Just when you thought things couldn't get any weirder in New Jersey, enter the Pacu, a native fish of the Amazon River has been caught in New Jersey rivers.

A 77 year old retired bus driver named Tom Boylan was shocked when he hooked one of these exotic fish on his line at the Third Ward Memorial Park in Passiac, NJ earlier this summer.

Local officials believe it was a local resident's pet that grew too large for it's tank and was released into the wild.  These fish are known as "Tank Busters" by fish enthusiasts because they grow very large, very quickly.  A small gold fish size Pacu can grow to be 55 lbs.

The biggest terror of this situation is that this breed of fish, which is related to the Piranha, is known to eat human testicles, thinking their actually tree nuts.

Recently, two men in New Guinea had they're testicles eaten off by Pacu fish while swimming in a local river.  Kinda makes you miss New Jersey doesn't it?

So, in closing, nest time you go swimming in New Jersey, make sure to wear a cup, or Kevlar underpants, and hope for the best.

Scientists Say "It's Normal to Want to Eat Your Baby"

"If you ever thought about consuming your baby, Don't worry, that's completely normal"

-Huffington Post

In one of the strangest studies I've seen in quite some time, researchers from The Christian Science Monitor extracted fresh baby smell from 2-day-old infants and presented the to two different groups of women.  15 of them were mothers and 15 of them were women who never gave birth.  The reaction from both groups were the same.

The reaction was stronger in mother than in non mothers, suggesting that child birth causes hormonal changes in mothers.  The triggers seems to be the smell of babies that triggers the reward recpeptor in the brain, that same that food also triggers, cause mothers to have the urge to eat they're babies.

As of this time we don't have any information about men in this study as they were not tested.

In closing, we do not condone the consuming of your baby, that's just wrong, but if you've thought about it, maybe your not as crazy as you thought.

Those Pesky Copper Thieves Strike Again

Copper thieves knock GDOT cameras offline

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Copper thieves are getting bolder, having struck another government installation in north Fulton County. This time, they disabled Georgia Department of Transportation pole-mounted traffic cameras on a busy expressway.
GDOT workers called police when the video feed from a pair of cameras on Ga. 400 at the Chattahoochee River in Sandy Springs went dark at the start of the Monday afternoon rush hour.
When officers arrived at the scene, “they realized copper and fiber had been stolen from a junction box out there,” Capt. Keith Zgonc of the Sandy Springs Police Department told Channel 2 Action News. About 1,000 feet of cable and copper wiring was gone.
GDOT spokesman Mark McKinnon said, “We’re having a real problem with people going out and taking that copper.”
“Having those cameras operable is important,” McKinnon said. “That’s what helps your average motorist get to work every day, that we’re able to see what’s going on out there.”
The thefts also cause projects to be delayed, waste taxpayer money and are dangerous to the thieves, McKinnon said.
“Someone could get themselves killed doing something like that,” he said.
The latest theft follows the recent arrest of a man who, with an accomplice, allegedly stole miles of copper wiring from about 50 light poles in Sandy Springs.
Antonio O. Beasley, 48, of Atlanta was arrested and charged with felony theft by taking and other offenses in a series of heists that cost Sandy Springs an estimated $30,000. Police are seeking Beasley’s companion.
In the GDOT camera copper theft, authorities are asking anyone who saw something suspicious around 4 p.m. Monday at Ga. 400 and the Chattahoochee to contact Sandy Springs or Roswell police

Warning!!! Kissing Statues in Sri Lanka can get you sentanced to HARD TIME!!!

French tourists guilty in Sri Lanka over Buddha photos

A Sri Lankan court has given suspended jail terms to three French tourists for wounding the religious feelings of Buddhists by taking pictures deemed insulting.
Two women and one man were detained in the southern town of Galle after a photographic laboratory alerted police.
The pictures show the travellers posing with Buddha statues and pretending to kiss one of them.
Most of Sri Lanka's majority ethnic Sinhalese are Theravada Buddhist.
Mistreatment of Buddhist images and artefacts is strictly taboo in the country. The incident is alleged to have taken place at a temple in central Sri Lanka.
Website posting
Police spokesman, Ajith Rohana, told the BBC the French party had visited the laboratory to get pictures printed.
The images were impounded after the owner of the photographic laboratory alerted police, but they were later posted on a Sri Lankan website.
On Tuesday a magistrate sentenced the trio to six months in prison with hard labour, suspended for five years - which means they will not actually serve any time in jail. The court also levied a small fine on them.
They were convicted under a section of the Penal Code which outlaws deeds intended to wound or insult "the religious feelings of any class of persons" through acts committed in, upon or near sacred objects or places of worship.
Last month there were reports that five Arabs visiting the island were arrested for distributing "literature insulting to Buddhism".
In 2010 two Sri Lankan Muslim traders were given suspended jail sentences for selling keyrings containing an image of Buddha.
That same year Sri Lanka denied a visa to the R&B star Akon, who had been due to perform a concert. It happened after public protests over one of his music videos which briefly showed scantily-clad women dancing in front of a Buddha statue.
There is currently widespread excitement in Sri Lanka as the Kapilvastu Relics - believed to be bones of Lord Buddha - have been brought to the island from India for a two-week tour of temples.
